i have decided to do a comparison between new boybands released in korea......and i wondered where to put this..when i remembered i had a blog! :) ...a little warning though,this post is definitely biased towards my shinee cause im so mad about them
i feel under the weather..i think this post is a side effect
it should be called why other new boybands are not as good as shinee..
1)A'ST1
who are they: the juniors of korean band SS501, and self proclaimed 'rivals' of Super Junior
debut song: 1234 back
date of debut:28th april 2008
number of members: 6 includes one chinese member and one member that is japanese
ages: ranging from 19-21
plus: some of them (i think 2 or 3 members) can sing really well live
minus: two members have similar hair and outfits(longish side fringe)..i thought they were the same person.. -...- and how do you pronounce their band name??!!
2) 2pm and 2am
who are they: they are the juniors of wondergirls. 2pm is the dancing group, while 2am is the singng group.they will merge to form a bigger group called one day...their name is really...original..
date of debut: 11th july for 2am; 4th sep 2008 for 2pm. one day has yet to arrive
debut song: This Song for 2am and 10 points out of 10 points for 2pm
number of members: 2am-4members ; 2pm-7members
age range: 2am->17-22(the oldest and the youngets are born on the same day!but with 5 years between them);2pm-> 18-21
plus: some members of the 2pm and 2am already received much popularity even before they debuted.
minus: This Song does not show off 2am's good vocals well enough. 2pm's video is just too perverted already..Also there is excessive use of Wondergirls to help promote their band. I see them in almost all of their official videos.(including both mvs,promotional clips and many message videos)
3)SMASH
who are they: this group of six people that are said to be very very talented
date of debut: 15th August 2008
debut song: Emergency
number of members: 6
age range: 28-17 (11 year gap!! 28 is really old for a leader* of a new boyband..other leaders are all at their early twenties or younger..)
plus: erm.....i dont really like this group that much....so no pluses..
minus:i have never seen them not lipsync before..maybe its to spare our ears?
4)dragon n tiger
who are they: this band with four members, dragon (2members here),who takes care of dancing,and tiger(2members here also),who does the singing.
date of debut: 12th August 2008 (they have yet to have a live performance that i can find..)
debut song: Two People and Thereafter
number of members: 4members.
age range:i cant find their ages.. may be due to low popularity?
plus: they are creative in their methods of shooting the video and fusing two different sounds together(hip-hop and ballad). its a relatively new concept.
minus:There was much confusion on whether there was 2 or 4 members due to the focus on 2 people in their debut song,snd the similar styles of the members. up to today i still cannot differentiate between the backup dancers in the video and the members in the boyband..
5) u-kiss
who are they: a new band with 3 members imported from another band called Xing.
date of debut: 15th august 2008
debut song: Not Young
number of members:6
age range: 20 to 14
plus: they look fresh and young, vocals of some members are quite good
minus: i didnt know they existed..and theres ANOTHER kim kibum**...and if they say Shinee is like Big Bang then this is just cut and paste! their style is really similar to that of Big Bang's.

who are they: a contemporary band that focuses on singing dance and fashion. they are bling bling jonghyun, taemin, leader onew, almighty key and flaming charisma minho. aka freshboys
date of debut: 25th may 2008
debut song: noona is very pretty (replay)
number of members:5
age range:15 to 18 (all of them are very young!! X) )
plus: they can sing and can dance! at the same time somemore!! Plus they now have quite a number of their own shows due to their overwhelming popularity since their debut.they released their first album just 3 months after their debut.
minus: a major distraction due to their addictive songs and dance.

**there are 4 known kim kibums in the korean music industry.
1st one in SUPER JUNIOR! kim kibum (dob. 21/8/1987)
2nd one in SHINEE kim kibum..aka Key (dob. 23/9/1991)
3rd one in U-kiss kim kibum (dob. 9/12/1990)
4th one is super junior's manager
and many more other kim kibums out there...
oh and theres a model called kim bum..
